Future Land Use

Future scenarios, alternative configurations and driving forces
The LUMOS toolbox is used to build consistent spatial impressions of future scenarios and to evaluate spatially explicit plans concerning their effects on the environment, nature and landscape. Also, it is used in scientific research on the driving forces behind environmental developments.

Spatially explicit scenarios are based on predicted development of numbers of inhabitants, economics, traffic and transport, agriculture and nature. The land use models within LUMOS translate these predictions into consistent spatial images with probable locations of these functions. These predictions can vary according to the assumptionsmade, for instance a further development of global markets or a more regionally oriented development.
